shapeshifter

I write, but I'm not a writer.

I teach, but I'm not a teacher.

I make art, but I am not an artist.

I turn lead into gold and work magic,

but alchemist or witch, I'm not either.

Nor am I a mentor,

though I guide the ones

who tap thrice on my door.

I am none of these things,

yet all of them and more.

Shifting in shape,

wandering edges,

igniting torches

to light the way through.

My home is the liminal,

but when I step out

I become

what life asks me to be.

Poet, Pirate, or Lover.

Student, Seeker, or Master.

Mother, Maiden, or Crone.

Order, and Chaos

Creation.

Destruction.

Dusk and Dawn.

All equal to me...

for in the mysterious

middle of these,

I find myself

with true power.

This is where I Am Free.

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself
(I am large, I contain multitudes)

 – Walt Whitman
